"The Female Psyche"

I am excited to launch a new therapy service specifically focused on supporting women navigating their psychological experiences.

​

​In working with women I have observed a number of factors and complexities that impact women's overall wellbeing.

The Female Psyche is individual therapy for women with a focus on self-compassion and self-care.

​

Self-compassion is the ability to turn compassion inward, demonstrating kindness and understanding (over harshness and criticism) when we fail, make mistakes or feel inadequate. - Dr. Kristin Neff

Outcomes from self-compassion therapy include developing kinder language towards ourselves, which assists with thoughts and feelings associated with unworthiness, failure, or inadequacy.

The act of self-compassion assists in the reduction of stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms, and improves coping and resilience.

Therapy with a self-compassion focus can provide support with:

​

* Low self-esteem or self-worth

*Perfectionism

*Self-doubt 

*Shame, guilt or self-criticism

* Stress and anxiety 

* Depression/low mood or motivation

*Loneliness and isolation

"But self kindness involves more than merely stopping self-judgement. It involves actively comforting ourselves, responding just as we would to a dear friend in need. It means we allow ourselves to be emotionally moved by our own pain, stopping to say, 'This is really difficult right now. How can I care for and comfort myself in this moment?' With kindness, we soothe and calm our troubled minds."
